Ochsenbraterei
Spaten
The Ochsenbraterei seats 5,900 indoors plus 1,600 in the beer garden at Oktoberfest 2026. It is run by the Spaten-Franziskaner brewery host and serves Spaten beer at around €15 per Maß. The defining feature is the whole ox roasted on a spit in front of the tent every day. Each ox is named (displayed on a board outside), and the running count is updated daily — typically 100+ oxen across the 16 days of the festival. Reservations include two Maß plus a meal voucher.

How to Book
Book NowWhat it's actually like
The Ochsenbraterei is the meat tent. A whole ox is roasted on a spit in front of the tent every day, the ox is given a name (announced on a board outside), and the running tally for the festival is updated — by the closing weekend the board reads something like "Wiesn 2026: 124 oxen". The signature dish is naturally a plate of roast ox, served different ways across the festival. Atmosphere-wise it is mid-traditional: brass band, Spaten beer, a crowd that skews slightly older and more Bavarian than Hofbräu but more lively than Augustiner. If you are a serious meat eater, this is the Oktoberfest tent that takes that seriously — every other tent serves the standard Hendl-Schweinshaxe-Brezn menu, while Ochsenbraterei makes beef the centrepiece. Vegetarians and lighter eaters will be visibly out of place.

Frequently asked questions
What is special about the Ochsenbraterei at Oktoberfest?▼
The Ochsenbraterei is the only tent at Oktoberfest where a whole ox is roasted on a spit every day. Each ox is given a name (displayed on a board outside), and the running total across the 16-day festival is tracked — typically over 100 oxen per Wiesn. Roast ox is the signature dish.
How much does a Ochsenbraterei reservation cost?▼
A table of 10 costs roughly €380–€560 per session. Spaten beer is around €15 per Maß. Each reservation includes two Maß plus a food voucher. Roast ox dishes typically run €26 in the tent.
Can I get into Ochsenbraterei without a reservation?▼
The 1,600-seat beer garden is first-come, first-served. Lunch on weekdays is usually walk-in friendly; weekend evenings without a reservation are difficult. Arrive before 11:00 on weekends.
Is the Ochsenbraterei good for vegetarians?▼
Not really. The tent's identity is built around the roast ox, and the menu reflects that. Standard vegetarian options like Obatzda with pretzel and Kaiserschmarrn are available, but vegetarians will find better options at Marstall, Augustiner, or Weinzelt.
When does Ochsenbraterei open and close?▼
Daily 10:00 to 22:30, like all standard Oktoberfest large tents. The ox roasting outside the tent is visible throughout opening hours and is the most-photographed exterior on the Wiesn.
How do I book Ochsenbraterei for 2026?▼
Reservations open in January at reservierung.ochsenbraterei.de. Evening tables sell out within weeks; lunch slots are easier. Group enquiries via the booking page.
